My name is Jason Cunningham. I have been teaching since 2006, so this year marks my twelfth year in education. I love getting to watch young minds learn something new, and wait for the moment everyday where I can see the light go off for one of my students, and know that they understand something that they didn't before. I have been married to my wife for 11 years. She is also a teacher, as is my father. We have one daughter, Jillian, who is 6 and attends First Grade. We are very blessed to have found a campus where the three of us are together, which allows us to all be a part of each other's life, even when we are at school.
I received my bachelor's degree from Angelo State University in 2006 and received my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction in May 2017. One of my greatest passions outside of my classroom is helping other educators, and I have been honored to present at CAMT (The Council for the Advancement of Mathematics Teaching), and hope to one day present on a regular basis.
I also love music, and attended college on a partial music scholarship. Reading is also a great escape for me, when I can find time. If you have been to my classroom you also know that my favorite superhero is Superman, and some of my most valued possessions are the different Superman items I have been given over the years, which I proudly display in my classroom.
One thing I like to share with people is that teaching is my calling. As far back as I can remember I always wanted to be a teacher. There was never a doubt in my mind as to what I would be when I grew up. I find it extremely satisfying to be able to live my dream everyday, and treasure every moment I am in the classroom and with my students. Except for time with my family, the time with my students accounts for some of my fondest memories. I am able to be a role model to my students, and model for them how they should treat others and view themselves. I push my students to give me 110% everyday, but am also willing to give them 120% of myself everyday.
